Dear Friends, on the occasion of the 24th International Cartographic Conference, I give a warm greeting to all those participants who will be present. It is a great honour to lead the organization of the ICC 2009, an event that constitutes the convergence of many various sectors in the search for the geospatial solutions required by the world community, the public presentation of the most recent cartographic technologies and a milestone of great scientific significance for the world and for Chile as host. As the new Director of the IGM, I am committed to making every effort to make this conference fulfil the expectations of all its participants, both in its preparation and in the accomplisment of its objectives.
