UK - The IET Seminar on Earth Observation Satellites Download as iCal file

With initiatives such as Google Earth showing increased use among the home computer user, public awareness of, and interest in, the capabilities of Earth Observation satellites is increasing. What’s more, the industry is preparing to launch around 200 satellites by 2020 - more than double the total number of satellites launched over the previous decade. Consultants in this area predict this growth will be fuelled primarily by the private sector – so what’s happening right now?

This seminar will break new ground and bring together the brightest minds in the Earth Observation satellite community – from satellite designers and manufacturers to end users to establish a dialogue for progress and collaboration across all areas of the Earth Observation industry. Attend the seminar and you’ll be fully in the loop on:

  • challenges faced by manufacturers of Earth Observation satellites
  • experiences of operators of Earth Observation satellites
  • the views of end-users of the products generated and collated by Earth Observation satellites
  • the future of Earth Observation technology

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Dr Chris Chaloner, Systems Development Executive, Aero-Space Division, Systems Engineering & Assessment Ltd, UK
  • Dr Arwyn Davies, Natural Environment Research Council
  • Dave Hodgson, Chair, British Association of Remote Sensing Companies, UK
  • Professor Mick Johnson, Director, Centre for Earth Observation Instrumentation
  • Chris Mutlow, ATSR-1 Principal Investigator and ATSR-2 Project Scientist, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, UK
  • Dr David Williams, Director General, British National Space Centre, UK

If your abstract is accepted, you’ll be invited to create a poster that will highlight your work to the Satellite Systems and Applications Network and wider satellite community. The best poster will receive the SSA Network’s Best Poster Award!

If you are interested in presenting your latest research on remote sensing / earth observation, including manufacture, operations, end-user, reselling or value-added services, please complete the abstract submission template and email your proposal or poster abstract by no later than Friday 30th October 2009 to:
