To expedite the tender and construction process for municipal infrastructure projects, funding totaling approximately $180,700 has been provided to four municipalities. The funding supports participation in project design, submission to regulatory agencies for review, and preparation of tender documents prior to projects receiving final approval from government. “Engineering design initiatives provide municipalities and government with valuable information including the opportunity to evaluate any unanticipated design issues, and provide a more accurate cost-estimate prior to final approval being granted by government,” said the Honourable Tom Hedderson, Minister of Municipal Affairs (Acting). “This process provides opportunity to get everything in order with design and approvals through regulatory agencies, simplifies the funding approval process and reduces the time it takes for a project to get to the construction stage.”
