SuperGeo Integrates GPS and GIS Learning into Treasure Hunting Game

SuperGeo Technologies has developed an interesting application that integrates geographic information system (GIS) as well as global positioning system (GPS) concepts into a Treasure Hunting Game. The game is a challenging and educational outdoor activity that applies GPS and GIS concepts. Each participant uses a handheld PDA equipped with GIS/GPS functions as the treasure-hunting tool. When the participant is approaching the treasure around 50 meters, a corresponding map and interface will appear and the system will automatically show a quiz related to the treasure or the environment. Users can not only learn the applications of GPS and GIS, but also gain the knowledge of local culture by observing the environment and reading the local history placards during the answer-finding process.
