PR -- Cost effective improvement of cadastral mapping accuracy is the cornerstone of a grant received by the District of Mission from the Integrated Cadastral Information Society (ICIS) under its CivicSpatial Program.  The grant will be used to partially fund the purchase of a GPS Total-Station that will be used by the District to accurately locate property corners.  This information will then be used to adjust parcel boundaries to match more closely their true position.  The ICIS Executive was enthusiastic to fund this project.  Steven Garner, Manager of the CivicSpatial program for ICIS notes that “for the cost of the grant we will see improvement in at least 7,000 parcels in a high-demand area.  That’s excellent value to our members.”

Chris Knowles, Manager of Information Technology for Mission adds, "The District of Mission is very pleased to participate in the ICIS cadastral initiative.  The received funding is much appreciated and will be used to improve the positional accuracy of our digital mapping data.  This will complement other enhancements to our geographic information system and will be of significant benefit to all users."

Applications for CivicSpatial grants are open to all ICIS local government members.  Funding is targeted at initiatives that will lead to direct improvement in the cadastral mapping used in electronic mapping and Geographic Information Systems.  Funding is provided by ICIS Utility and provincial government members.
