Autodesk LandXplorer 3D city model software provides realistic tools that allow stakeholders to visualize finite physical and operational details of entire city and infrastructure projects before they are built, facilitating informed design decisions throughout the urban design lifecycle.

The AGI conference is the largest independent gathering of GI professionals in the UK. Themed, realizing the value of place, the 2009 conference will address the issues surrounding GIS and its impact on planning for government, utilities, infrastructure, marketing, insurance, business intelligence and consumer applications and the consequences for the geo community.

A keynote speech from Autodesk’s Emerging Industries Sales Manager for Northern Europe, Tracey Stone, will discuss Autodesk’s vision for intelligent city planning and management through the development of digital cities. It will present a collaborative project between Autodesk and Ordnance Survey which has created a 3D digital model of the City of Liverpool and considers the impact and response to a number of operational and emergency scenarios.

“The use of 3D modeling for mapping, urban planning and construction is becoming well established but the concept of digital cities and the consequent linking up of CAD, GIS, BIM and AI give us new possibilities for collaborative urban management and emergency planning. Being able to experience a “digital” city enables all parties to understand how planning, policy, proposals and emergency situations can impact the urban environment and the people who live within and to put all required preventative measures in place,” said Stone.
