Ambitious CO2 Strategy

PR - By 2014, Novo Nordisk’s CO2 emission will be reduced by 10 percent as compared with the 2004 level. This is according to a voluntary climate agreement entered with the WWF; and – since the company expects a substantial growth which, without this agreement, would lead to a 65 percent increase of the emission – this is a very ambitious goal.

The fundamental driving force behind this strategy is the triple bottom line where the company strives to be financially viable, socially responsible and environmentally sound.

Three dimensions
Since, globally, climate changes will exert an impact on all three dimensions of the triple bottom line, it has been a natural consequence for Novo Nordisk to take the necessary steps towards a reduction of the company’s impact on the environment. This is intended to take place by advancement of energy-saving projects, of renewable sources of energy, and of improved productivity.
