WFC 2009: Exchange Meeting on Regional Forest Cooperation in Buenos Aires

The Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) co-organize a meeting on regional forest cooperation in Buenos Aires on 17 October 2009, as a side event to the XIII World Forestry Congress (18 - 23 October).

The objective of the Workshop is to create awareness and promote exchange on the strengths of the different types of regional organizations, initiatives and processes, to increase the potential for innovation and political commitment in regional forest cooperation while maintaining realistic expectations about what they can deliver. A Message of participants will be formulated and inserted to the WFC. The one-day workshop is conceived as a first concrete step of a longer term roadmap. It is open upon invitation and facilitated by German Technical Cooperation (GTZ). Participants from regional processes and initiatives will take part, the major regional organizations will be represented and also FAO’s Regional Forestry Commissions and several CPF organizations will attend.
