The three-day trade event which will take place from 28-30 October at Suntec Convection Centre in Singapore, is designed for professionals and practitioners, including developers, contractors, engineers, equipment specialists, interior designers, and experts in building security systems to exchange knowledge and best practices, network and do business with buyers across the region.
“Across the world, buildings consume in and around 40% of a nation's energy costs. As the world’s interest in global warming and sustainability continues to increase, BEX Asia has been designed to offer a one-stop-shop for the building trade who is increasingly looking for environmentally friendly solutions to meet GREEN certified ratings,” said Ms Michelle Lim, General Manager for Reed Exhibitions.
BEX Asia will host a foray of the latest cement technologies, thermal insulations, adhesives and tiles, industrial flooring and power systems to interior finishes, lightings and sanitary wares – all committed to increasing energy and water efficiency, improving environmental protection, bettering indoor environmental quality and promoting sustainability and waste reduction.

Thortex Asia will launch its new COOLWALL Coating System – a technology advanced coating that has been specifically developed and proven to save energy costs for buildings and to cut their carbon footprint. CoolWall coatings are specifically formulated to reflect the sun’s heat; they can lower exterior wall surfaces by as much as 40 degrees when compared to traditional paints, meaning a lower interior heating to prevent the need for air-conditioning in the tropics and a reduction on colling costs of up to 21.9 percent. Coupled to that is CoolWall’s outstanding fade resistance and dirt shedding capabilities meaning the painting cycle can be greatly extended saving both money and energy again. Booth number E29.
New Lift Holdings will launch its Pneumatic Vacuum Elevator. An elevator that works purely on the force of gravity, the Pneumatic Vacuum Elevator requires no pit / hoistway / machine room / cables / piston or pulleys. What is does provide users with is a smooth, powerful and safe lift journey in its glass 360 degree view cabins. Newcomers to BEX Asia, APA will unveil a wide variety of green building products and systems utilizing sustainably managed temperate coniferous forest resources and the latest and most efficient construction technologies. New products on show include:
- Glued laminated structural timbers for innovative and attractive non-residential projects
- Efficient multiple re-use concrete forming plywood systems to reduce labor, energy, waste, materials transportation
- Radiant barrier OSB sheathing systems for light weight roof systems to cut energy costs;
- Softwood plywood siding for decorative applications
- Treated softwood lumber, plywood and glulam products for boardwalks, covered walkways, shade structures, marinas, bridges, and other outdoor applications

Davis Langdon & Seah Singapore at booth F06 will be unveiling the second edition of the Green Building Products and Technologies (GBPTs) Handbook. This well-received handbook, initiated in 2008, serves as a reference guide on the various GBPTs which are relevant to the criteria of Green Mark as well as an educational awareness toolkit to create greater environmental awareness for the construction industry.
Bringing in the latest in LED technology is CV BUILDING SERVICES and H-MAX LED lightings (booth numbers B32 and E27). New products include LED wireless, standalone, weatherproof Solar Powered Street lamps; an LED T8 Light Tube – with good life-span, high output of light, low waltage and almost no maintenance or powdered mercury waste.
Ariston Thermo Pte Ltd (D08) is set to highlight its Indirect Cylinder Solar Water Heater from Italy at booth number D08: a natural circulation and centralised tank system, it offers the end user cleaner water and higher long-term energy efficiency, and also the High Energy Efficienct Storage Water Heater which helps to reduce energy consumption so that the end user not only helps the environment but saves money too.
Builders Shop (D11) will unveil its new Silestone, available in over 50 colours and complete with anti-bacterial features ideal for kitchen tops, or other counters subject to hard knocks; whilst M&G Contracts (A16) will present Fabbrica Marmi E Graniti (FMG), an eco-friendly reconstituted stone manufactured by Iris Ceramica SpA (Italy). This innovative range of man-made stones comprises of 100% natural stone powders and uses more than 40% of recycled material in its production.
Ultralite S1 at booth E11 is a monocomponent cementitious adhesive for fixing stones and tile, set to launch at BEX Asia. It is a high performance, lightweight, high yield, low dust, deformable adhesive without vertical slip and with an extended open time. It contains more than 30% of recycled material. Likewise, Larsen Weld-Crete will unveil to Asia its Weld-Crete® which bonds new concrete, stucco, tile setting beds and terrazzo to any structurally sound surface, interior or exterior. It will also show Firesound, an acrylic based sealant, formulated primarily to perform as a barrier to the incursion of fire through expansion joints but which also is an effective acoustic sealant.
Metalliqx specialises in the production and application of liquid metal to create finishes that look and feel like solid metals. It is a viable alternative for a metal finish that is product-efficient, cost-effective, durable, seamless in design and aesthetically captivating with over 200 standard coatings to choose from. Lutron’s Quantum™ total light management system can control, monitor & report lighting energy usage in a building. By optimizing the use of electric light & daylight, Quantum can reduce lighting energy usage by 60%. It also increases comfort and productivity with strategies like personal light control, scene control and zone control. Quantum’s Hyperion solar-adaptive shading technology can automatically adjust window

AVS Technologies Pte Ltd (A37) will be showcasing, for the first time, capabilities of the VUTEk QS3220 from EFI at Booth F37. The VUTEk QS3220 combines high definition printing with high production speeds and increased media capability. With its high definition printing, the VUTEk QS3220 produces eye popping images with resolutions as high as 1080 dpi making it suitable for customising graphics and artwork for the interior and architecture industry as it accepts a wide range of media including wallpaper, paper, vinyl, plastic, wood, aluminum or aluminum plastic composites, cardboard, polycarbonate and even glass.
Fire Rated Doors will also be on display from Weng Meng Industries (B28), including the new 31mm thick panel FD60 Decorative Fire Rated Door System that that allows designers to create finishes in timber, stone, marble, granite, tiles, cloth, leather, mirrors - unlike typical fir doors.
Other companies to watch out for include EnGro Corporation Limited (D01) - the first cement company in Singapore to be awarded the GreenLabel accreditation for its GGBS product; SolarPower21 (E34a) - an energy saving solution & application supplier in the Asia Pacific Region; AOC – a setup within Siemens Building Technologies Center of Competence in Asia Pacific (CoC AP) which is dedicated to addressing energy issues for buildings, Trane (C10) and Kone (C18).

Of note, BEX Asia 2009 will run simultaneously with the inaugural International Green Building Conference (IGBC), “Build Green The Future is Now” organised by Building and Construction Authority (BCA) of Singapore.
IGBC’s “Build Green The Future is Now” will feature renowned leaders in the fields of green architecture, engineering, planning, design and building supplies who will present on a broad range of topics related to sustainable building.
This will include the greening of existing buildings and smart passive design, emerging new technologies, building information models and IT solutions, best practices in GREEN roofings and facades, GREEN projects and construction.
Participants will have the opportunity to meet and engage with the invited experts at workshops, GREEN tours and talks scheduled throughout the three-day conference – including first hand viewings of Singapore’s ‘Zero Energy Building’; a part of the BCA’s flagship research and development project under its Green Building Master Plan.
