| The Local Organising Committee of the ICCE 2008 together with the
German Society for Port Engineering, the German Coastal Engineering
Research Council and various other German coastal engineering
institutes invite you to attend the 31st International Conference on
Coastal Engineering hosted by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg,
Germany, in late summer 2008.
The conference is organised under the auspices
of the COASTAL ENGINEERING RESEARCH COUNCIL (CERC) of the AMERICAN
SOCIETY OF CIVIL ENGINEERS (ASCE).
Venue and date
The ICCE 2008 will be held from Sunday, 31st August to Friday, 5th September, 2008 at the Congress Center Hamburg (CCH).
Hamburg
has an interesting history of more than 1100 years being a sovereign
Hanseatic city until 1871. Today, Hamburg is one of the leading
European harbours with a turnover of more than 7 Mio. TEU and a
commercial metropolis with a number of internationally known
industries. The Hanseatic city of Hamburg is also one of the technical
and scientific centres of Germany.
Culturally, Hamburg offers a multitude of theatres, an
opera, museums, parks and, last but not least, pubs and fine
restaurants to visitors. Especially the harbour area is a tourist
magnet in our city. The surrounding countryside is dominated by large
fruit plantations, old farm houses, the Elbe estuary and the coastlines
of the North and Baltic Sea. Further Hanseatic cities like Bremen and
Lübeck are only a short train ride away.
