PR - Environments where a stray spark can cause havoc, Juniper Systems ultra-rugged Archer Field PC offers a margin of safety. This durable handheld computer is now FM Approved as non-incendive for use in Class I Div 2 areas. The non-incendive Archer can be used safely in hazardous environments where explosive gases or liquids may be present -- refineries, chemical plants, gas or oil pipelines, compressor and pump stations, oil field production facilities and other sites. The non-incendive rating complements the other tough standards the Archer meets. It is rated IP67, the highest possible dust- and waterproof rating, and it meets military standard MIL-STD-810F for standing up to shock, drops, vibration, altitude, extreme temperatures, water, humidity, sand and dust. Safe operation in difficult and dangerous conditions positions the Archer as a capable field computer for assessment, workforce management, inspection, data collection and mobile GIS applications.

The Archer case is made of a sturdy, lightweight magnesium alloy and features an easy-to-grip over-molding in high-visibility orange or gray. Outdoors, the Archer is a natural with a vibrant color display, transflective screen and large, backlit keys make for comfortable viewing.

The high capacity Li-Ion battery delivers more than 20 hours of operating life on a single charge and recharges in five hours or less. The Archer Power Dock is an optional desktop cradle that charges the Archer battery and provides a USB connection for synchronizing with the desktop PC. Integrated Bluetooth® wireless technology is available as an option.

Peripheral SD and CF cards with an extended cap enhance the versatility of the Archer. Extended caps accommodate a GPS receiver, bar code scanner, RFID scanner, cellular modem, WiFi, or data storage card. Simply plug the cards in, and attach the appropriate extended cap for a fully sealed package.

A suite of Microsoft Windows Mobile® applications is incorporated, including mobile versions of Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, Outlook, PowerPoint and Activesync. The Archer is configurable in 16 languages, providing rugged dependability for users worldwide.
