Bentley Map Provides Extended Data Interoperability Through Integration With Safe Software's FME

Bentley Systems, Incorporated, the leading company dedicated to providing comprehensive software solutions for the infrastructure that sustains our world, today announced that Bentley Map now includes support for FME, the leading spatial ETL (extract, transform, and load) solution from Safe Software. This enhancement enables GIS and mapping professionals to easily move spatial data – regardless of the format it's in, coordinate system used, or storage location – into and out of Bentley Map without pre- or post-processing, or data conversion. The new Bentley Map Extension for FME Desktop adds more than 225 widely used formats, including raster data, spatial databases, and legacy CAD and GIS, to the many file formats already supported by Bentley Map. This ensures that users have the highest-fidelity data in their workflows, improving project quality and increasing efficiency.

Commenting on the importance of this new capability, Richard Zambuni, Bentley global marketing director, said, "Bentley Map, Bentley's flagship desktop GIS product, has a powerful reputation for natively handling heterogeneous data formats. With the new Bentley Map Extension for FME Desktop, users gain access to an even broader array of popular file formats, including CityGML and AutoCAD Civil 3D. In operation, users simply run FME Desktop concurrently with the new Bentley Map extension."

"Safe Software is committed to connecting users with the data they need," said Don Murray, president of Safe Software. "We look forward to seeing the innovative ways Bentley Map users will apply FME to solving their data interoperability challenges."
