Autodesk is working with the multi-touch wall as an interface to their design software at Autodesk Labs. There are some exciting YouTube videos that show Autodesk products being manipulated on this large and interactive interface.
Check out Jeff Han’s demo or take a look at what Doug Look does with the multi-touch wall. This is an interesting interface for the future, and I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot more of this at conferences this year.
The product comes from Perceptive Pixel, and it’s currently priced at $100,000. The product got a big publicity boost this year when it was featured in the Neiman Marcus Christmas Book Catalog. Not sure what the average rich person would do with such a thing, but I certainly know a lot of technologists that would love the interface.
I’d love to do more work standing up. Sitting behind a screen for hours on end is getting old, and making me feel older. Can’t wait to see this “Minority Report” technology hit the mainstream so that we’ll all be dancing and reaching instead of slouching and squinting.
