The California Air Resources Board released a draft scoping plan late last week that aims to reduce California’s greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent over the next 12 years. Among the ambitious goals is a plan to produce 1/3 of their energy from renewable sources.
The scoping plan is a step toward meeting the aggressive goals in Assembly Bill 32, the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006. The bill embodies the idea that California’s economy can grow and flourish, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions. More than half of the scoping plan is devoted to a detailed analysis of cost and benefits, promoting public/private partnerships to achieve these goals.
