Carma Tracks Emissions for 50,000 Power Plants

by Matt Ball on March 10, 2009

carmaThe Carbon Monitoring for Action (CARMA) website tracks emissions from 50,000 power plants around the world. The site was created by the Center for Global Development, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit research organization. The map-based overview is supplemented by a detailed list of power plants and power companies with ratings on their emission loads.

There’s an easy zip code entry form on the home page to help you discover the performance of the plant where your power comes from. Or for global searches, the map interface can be used. The data can also be accessed via Google Earth. And for developers, there’s an easy API for REST-based access to the data on the CARMA site.
