Google recently announced a site for user-generated product ideas for Google Mobile. A nice feature of the site is the ability to view and rate the ideas of others, with the most popular ideas sorted to the top. Not surprisingly, many of the ideas are map related. “Whether you’ve got a great idea about Google [...]

Economic turmoil, cheap oil, tabled wind farm plans, massive layoffs, car makers in trouble, and now this. Today I learned that my trusted breakfast partner, The Rocky Mountain News, is in considerable trouble. I’m one of a dieing group of people that read a daily newspaper religiously, and for years it’s been the Rocky. The [...]

There’s an item on Slashdot about the toolbag that was dropped during last week’s spacewalk on the International Space Station. Apparently the bag has been spotted from ground from several observatories, and is being monitored. The post has a link to a video clip that shows the backpack-size bag floating away.

I was saddened to just learn that Randy Pausch, the virtual reality professor at Carnegie who inspired many with his Last Lecture, has passed away today. The lecture gained widespread exposure on the Internet, and was also turned into a popular book, which I enjoyed and gifted to many. If you haven’t read the book [...]

We had a second annual 4th of July party in our neighborhood park last night. We have a number of musicians in the neighborhood, and we set up a PA and instruments for an informal open-mic jam. My two boys played some songs under their new band name Bloodstained Roses. It was a fun event [...]

If you haven’t already viewed video of the updated mind-controlled prosthetic robot arm, view it here below. I’m blown away at how well this device works, and am inspired by the dedicated innovation that makes such technologies possible. Dean Kamen and his DEKA design group provided the genius behind the Segway transporter and many innovative [...]
