buckminsterfullerchallenge.jpgR. Buckminster Fuller was a visionary well ahead of his time. Fuller spoke about lessening our environmental impact way back in the 1940s, and designed dwellings and vehicles with that aim in mind.

“If success or failure of the planet and of human beings depended on how I am and what I do … How would I be? What would I do?”– Buckminster Fuller

The Buckminster Fuller Challenge, a new annual competition awards $100,000 to an individual or team that takes a holistic approach to solving a pressing world problem.

Be certain to enter if you share Fuller’s passion to, “to make the world work for 100% of humanity, in the shortest possible time, through spontaneous cooperation without ecological offense or disadvantage of anyone.”

Fuller called this approach comprehensive anticipatory design science, combining an emphasis on individual initiative and integrity with whole systems thinking, scientific rigor and faithful reliance on nature’s underlying principles.
