Forty-three members of congress sent a letter to the Department of Homeland Security requesting that DHS “mitigate and monitor” the environmental impacts of the wall on the Mexican border. The letter asks DHS to create and fund a “robust border-wide environmental monitoring program” in conjunction with applicable federal agencies.
The congress members contend that the waiving of the National Envioronmental Policy Act that avoided environmental impact statements has had adverse effects on wildlife, including endangered species.
