DigitalGlobe Challenges Researchers to Use Multispectral Imagery

by Matt Ball on July 28, 2010

DigitalGlobe has just announced a contest that will provide free 8-band imagery to researchers willing to investigate the utility of multispectral imagery in their research. The 8-Band Research Challenge includes five grants of $5,000, free imagery, and an invitation to present their findings at the Geospatial World Forum in Hyderabad, India in January of 2011.

DigitalGlobe’s WorldView-2 satellite includes eight high-resolution multispectral bands in the visible to near-infrared range, combined with two meter multispectral resolution. The imagery can be used for such remote sensing applications as vegetation analysis, bathymetry and land use/land cover studies.
