GE and Google Team Up on Energy

Not only are GE and Google teaming up to create better energy technology, they’re also aligned on a policy partnership that will bring these thoughts to Washington to help drive federal policies. On the policy agenda are the development of transmission capacity for renewable resources and the development and deployment of smart electricity grid. On the technology development side is a focus on large-scale geothermal technology and the software and controls to enable plug-in vehicles on the grid.

It’s good to see technology leaders put such a strong effort into the critical issue of energy stability. These players realize the importance of economic stability first and foremost, that is followed closely by security issues that our energy dependence has made very clear. The two-pronged attack to develop technology and steer policy is brilliant, and they each bring considerable resources to bear.
