GIS for Organizing Interior Spaces

GIS is applicable for the organization of all assets in a spatial context, but it’s not often you hear about its use for optimizing interior space. NASA has developed an internal system that harnesses GIS for optimizing internal space allocation, including such factors as the amount of space required, the cost of the space and the proximity to key personnel. The program provides visualizations of many different scenarios for use by decision makers, and the what-if scenarios that have proved very valuable as NASA works to consolidate operations into less office space.
