Leica Technology to Capture a Precise Model of Lower Manhattan

Leica has just sent out a release that outlines an interesting urban digital mapping project that will take place this May in New York City. The project is a partnership that couples Leica’s High-Definition Surveying scanners with researchers from the Van Alen Institute. The end result of the exercise will be a public exhibition in the Van Alen gallery space that will include 3D models, photographic prints, point clouds and meshes, and videos. The area of focus is the narrow streets of lower Manhattan.
