New Tornado Path Website Launched

by Matt Ball on June 18, 2008

Tornadopaths.org is a new website that combines National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) tornado observations on top of Google maps. The site is being administered by Dr. Perry Samson, a professor in the Department of Atmospheric, Oceanic and Space Sciences at the University of Michigan. The site lets you view tornado activity across the entire United States for the past 24 hours, and offers greater detail as you zoom in.

I’d love to see this site archive activity over time, to get a better sense of trends and any changes in traditional patterns. At present the site only gives a snapshot of the past 24 hours, with searches possible by Zip code.
