I’ve reported in the past about changes at the University of Washington and Colorado State University to take more of a multidisciplinary approach to issues of global change. The University of Arizona announced today that they are establishing the Institute for the Environment and Society. The new institute will integrate the work of 150 faculty from nine colleges and 45 academic disciplines. The institute replaces what was the Institute for the Study of Planet Earth, with a more pointed mission of addressing climate change and sustainable pathways for the use of energy, land and water.
