IBM has developed an online multiplayer game called PowerUp that’s centered around saving the planet Helios from ecological disaster. The game is being used by high school science educators, and has officially been named the official game of “America’s Largest Earth Day Celebration,” which will take place April 22nd.

The aim of the game is to engage students to find potential solutions to climate change. Teams of students are challenges against one another to use basic engineering principals to fix solar panels, wind turbines or dams.

The website for the game can be found here, there are free downloads of the game as well as discussion points for teachers. The game was developed for IBM’s TryScience initiatives, which aims to get students more interested in science.
