The Lincoln Institute of Land Policy just completed a study of states with smart growth policies. The study took a look at Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, Oregon, Colorado, Indiana, Texas and Virginia. The planning policies of these states showed some gains in protecting undeveloped land, providing transportation options, maintaining affordable housing, and achieving positive fiscal impact, however, none of the states achieved all five objectives.
