Ted Turner on Climate Change

by Matt Ball on April 4, 2008

Ted Turner speaks forcefully about the problem of global warming on Charlie Rose’s program. His argument is that there’s much to be gained by addressing the problem, and that not doing so is suicide. He suggests that we need strong leadership and quick action in order to turn warming around.

It’s worth watching this 3-minute excerpt from a one-hour interview.

Doesn’t he claim that we’ll all be dead or eating human flesh to survive in 30 years time? Nutter.

The warming has mellowed, whether it’s short term or long term, who knows. Depending on what source, either since 98 or 2001, it hasn’t warmed. Basically flat-lined.

The BBC had an article about it today.

Now, from my personal interactions and what others have told me. Ted is a nice guy, but you wouldn’t want to follow him anywhere. Plus anyone who would be willing to marry, one of the likes of Jane Fonda, shouldn’t be taken too seriously when he opens his mouth.

I guess all the money he donated to the UN hasn’t turned things around! :)

And the commenter above is right, he did make those statements. So, people should listen to more than the 3 mintues selectively presented in this post. Listen to the entire hour.
