FedEx Critical Care gave a presentation at the ESRI User Conference that outlined their tracking and logistics solution. The constant tracking of vehicles that carry at-risk shipments that are valuable one-of-a-kind items or shipments that need to maintain a specific temperature throughout the delivery. The display of real-time tracking included the location of multiple vehicles across the United States, as well as the monitoring of individual trucks, including such data as temperature from on-board sensors.
One scenario shows issues with a truck in real-time where the sensor fuse blows and the temperature in the truck gets close to the temperature threshold. This application of tracking and logistics coupled with real-time thresholds illustrates an exciting application of a mobile sensor web.
