CISCO and the city of San Francisco have teamed to develop the Urban EcoMap as part of CISCO’s Connected Urban Development program. The EcoMap is designed as an open source collaboration platform for citizens, business and policy makers to see results of their invidual actions on climate change. The aim is to encourage actions that mitigate environmental impacts, to track results and provide decision support. The three primary targets are transportation, energy and recycling.
“Cisco envisions a future where the intelligent use of networking architectures can transform society not only by boosting productivity and spurring economic growth, but also by supporting environmental sustainability and enhancing the quality of life in urban environments.”
San Franciso is the pilot city for the Connected Urban Development program with partners NASA, CH2M Hill and Duarte. You can view a video of the EcoMap here, view a multimedia slideshow here or download a document about EcoMap San Francisco here.
