Tough Times for Conservation Nonprofits

by Matt Ball on December 9, 2008

It turns out that George W. Bush, while not good to the environment, was very beneficial for environmental nonprofits as his presence meant record donations that are now tapering off. A feature in this week’s  High Country News highlights the troubles that western conservation-oriented nonprofits are going through.

“With the economy slumping and the stock market plunging, some foundations will be re-evaluating funding priorities. The feature acknowledges that there have been cyclical tough times in the past, and emphasizes the need to make sure the groups loudly proclaim their relevance as the new administration takes office.
