The City of San Antonio recently completed a map along the riverwalk of the San Antonio River that traces back all the hundreds of pipes that divert runoff into the river. Public works crews pumped smoke into pipes to see where they originated, and each pipe was mapped back to its origin. While no polluters have yet been found in the exercise, the record of where water is coming from will assist river management.
