Today marks the launch of Vector1 Media. The focus of this new site gets back to technology process and application, and away from a general technology-centric coverage. The aim is to serve practitioners that want to see spatial tools used across large project areas, as a collaborative medium across disciplines, and with in-depth analysis and thought processes that make the most of everyone’s input.
The subject of Vector 1 Media is sustainable development. This is a large and growing area of application that boils down to measured urban growth and infrastructure management that balances the needs of the community with economic health and environmental stewardship.
Achieving the big-picture goals of sustainable development requires a great deal of information gathering, synthesis and communication. The spatial toolset is ideally suited to become a catalyst for these tasks, but there are many cultural issues to be overcome.
Wrapping ourselves around the projects, problems and potential has been an energizing endeavor. We’re excited about the stories and coverage that we have in the works. I hope you like what you see here and are interested in becoming active in this new community.
