GOOD Magazine has an in-depth and interactive wanderlust map that documents great journeys from Magellan to Kerouac. All routes appear on the map, with links to individual routes below it. Clicking on an individual route gives some detailed slide-show views of different points on the map.
The interactive map provides some fodder for daydreaming about getting out there. This follows an e-mail that I received yesterday from Wired magazine, inviting me to sign up for a chance at a free spot on a Polar Challenge team. I started to fill out the entry form for the contest, and then took a look at the training schedule and timing. I determined that there’s not enough time between now and the October assault course training for me to get in tip top shape. Maybe a tamer challenge is in order.
