World’s Mayors Meet to Discuss Sustainable Urban Planning

by Matt Ball on May 14, 2009

Mayors from around the world are meeting this week in New York City at the United Nations to discuss sustainable urban planning. The conference title — Sustainable Urbanization in the Information Age, Role of Infrastructure — provides many interesting points of discussion. The focus is on both physical infrastructure and the soft infrastructure of health care and education — and the role that innovative information and communication (ICT) models play for sustainable urban planning.

The planned outcome from this meeting is a published book that will be distributed as a United Nations publication. The Global Alliance for ICT and Development is hosting discussions from the event on their Blogs.
