PR - GEOIDE is proud to announce that Mr. Kevin O'Neill, Director of Business Development for MDA Geospatial Services in Vancouver, BC, has been elected Chair of its board of directors. He replaces Dr. Phil Lapp, who served for the past 10 years.

Mr. Kevin O'Neill has served on GEOIDE's board since 2006 and on the
Research Management Committee from 2001-2006. Mr. O'Neill has been with MDA
for over 20 years in a variety of roles including systems engineering,
management and business development. He has led multi-disciplinary teams to
implement complex information systems and managed business development
activities for these systems and large geomatics services contracts. His
activities have primarily focussed on North America and Europe.
"I am delighted to accept the position of Chair of GEOIDE's Board," said
Mr. O'Neill. "GEOIDE has played a pivotal role in shaping the geomatics sector
in Canada and abroad. I hope to continue the growth in geomatics research to
provide career opportunities for Canadians and maintain Canada's leadership
position in the sector."
"Kevin O'Neill's experience in the industry and with the Network gives
him a clear sense of how geomatics brings value to the economy," said Nicholas
Chrisman, GEOIDE's Scientific Director. "We are confident that he will provide
strong leadership for the Board and for the geomatics research community in
Canada."
GEOIDE's mission is to consolidate and strengthen the domestic geomatics
industry while making optimum use of Canada's research and development
resources, and to create a sustainable networking structure that integrates
all sectors of the Canadian geomatics community.
