NASA Awards Distributed Active Archive Center Contract |

PR - NASA has selected Columbia University, New York, for the
management and operations of the Earth Observing System Data and
Information System Socioeconomic Data and Applications Center
Distributed Active Archive Center. The total estimated cost of the
contract is $20,412,996 over the five-year period of performance.
NASA's Goddard Space
Flight Center Earth Science Data and Information System project is
responsible for providing scientific and other users access to data
from NASA's Earth science program. The project provides access to data
through the development and operation of the Earth Observing System
Data and Information System.
The Socioeconomic Data
and Applications Center Distributed Active Archive Center provides
high-level products and services for policy formulation and decision
making that combines Earth science and socioeconomic data. The center
facilitates the exchange of data and information between NASA's
satellite remote-sensing instruments and socioeconomic dataset
distributors such as the U.S. Census Bureau. This is a follow-on
contract with Columbia University for the continued operations of the
center.
