CADWM Programme for 11th Five Year Plan Print E-mail

PR - The components of the Centrally Sponsored ¡¥Command Area Development & Water Management Programme¡¦ (CADWM) for the 11th Five Year Plan are ¡V Survey, Planning, and Designing of On-Farm Development (OFD) works - (OFD works comprise of construction of field channels, realignment of field boundaries, land leveling and shaping ; Construction of field drains, intermediate and link drains; Correction of system deficiencies in system of capacity upto 4.25 hectare; Declamation of waterlogged areas; Software activities namely trainings, adaptive trials, demonstrations, monitoring and evaluation; One time functional grants to Water Users Associations (WUAs); and Establishment cost.

From the inception of the programme in 1974-75 till March 2008,an area of about 18.07 Mha has been benefited through Infrastructure development at micro level for supply of irrigation water to the farmers. Plan wise details of Central assistance released to the States are as follows: Rs. (Crore) „« Upto end of 8th Plan 1680.74 „« During 9th Plan 751.66 „« During 10th Plan 818.53 „« Expenditure during 2007-08 277.00 „« Budget estimates for 2008-09 350.00

Centrally Sponsored Command Area Development Programme was launched in 1974-75 with the objective of bridging the gap between irrigation created and that utilized and optimizing agricultural production and productivity from irrigated lands on a sustainable basis. The Programme envisaged integration of all activities relating to irrigated agriculture in a coordinated manner with multi-disciplinary team under a Command Area Development Authority.
