Korem Launches Mapworkspace Print E-mail
Written by Vector1Media

PR - KOREM, launched mapworkspace (www.mapworkspace.com) during the MapWorld Conference taking place in Las Vegas from May 21st to May 23rd 2008. This web-based map networking service is intended for MapInfo Professional(R) users to upload their workspaces and associated documents and share them with other GIS professionals, and to communicate and exchange information with peers.     Through its community focused functionalities such as contact management,
favourites, tags and messaging, mapworkspace makes it easy for its users to
interact with each other, explore the mapping information and stay informed on
newly published maps relevant to topics that matter to them.
mapworkspace is truly unique with its map networking community approach
and its ease-of-use for uploading and sharing maps. mapworkspace also stands
out from other existing solutions allowing users to add simple geographic
information to free online services as it gives the mapping professional
complete control over the content and sharing with its peers or any other
user. mapworkspace users can also insert a published map in any website using
the embedding code. Public access allows non-GIS professionals to consult
published information and interact with the authors.
"We are proud to present the mapworkspace solution, inspired from
Internet sites such as Facebook, My Space and You Tube that promote
information sharing and professional networking or between people with common
interests. mapworkspace responds to GIS professionals needs for information
sharing that were left unanswered by other geographic information sharing
solutions. mapworkspace allows for GIS professionals to share their projects
and interests with their peers and the public while offering ease of use
through a community focused and user-friendly environment", said Sébastien
Vachon, President of KOREM.
The basic service is available free of charge to anyone who registers and
provides users with all the functionalities and a personal folder of up to
50MB. Through the basic service, all published maps are made available to
everyone or to the author exclusively. A subscription service provides the
user with more folder space as well as use of the embedding code.
